{"id":48,"date":"2015-11-12T20:13:00","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T20:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"\/post\/Overnight-Chia-Oats-with-Apple-Cinnamon-Puree-and-Strawberry-Compote-Lizah-Leishman.aspx"},"modified":"2015-11-12T20:13:00","modified_gmt":"2015-11-12T20:13:00","slug":"overnight-chia-oats-with-apple-cinnamon-puree-and-strawberry-compote-lizah-leishman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alpine9recipes.com\/?p=48","title":{"rendered":"Overnight Chia Oats with Apple Cinnamon Puree and Strawberry Compote &#8211; Lizah Leishman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"cell\">\n<div class=\"recipe-description\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Makes 2 glasses<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">For the apple oats:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 1 cup of gluten free oats<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 1 cup of almond milk<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 2 red apples<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 5 teaspoons of chia seeds<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 3 teaspoons of raw agave syrup<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 1 heaped teaspoon of cinnamon<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; 1 teaspoon of vanilla bean extract<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">For the Strawberry compote:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; just one cup of strawberries<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Optional:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; a handful of almonds to sprinkle on the top for crunch<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">&ndash; a couple of chopped strawberries<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Start by peeling and coring the apples, then cut them into small chunks and boil for 5-10 minutes, until they become nice and soft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">While the apples soften, place the strawberries (with the green part removed) into the food processor and blend for one minute until they turn into a smooths strawberry soup! Keep this to one side.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Place the oats, chia seeds, almond milk, vanilla, agave and cinnamon into a bowl and stir together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Once the the apples are cooked, drain them before mashing them with a fork, until they&rsquo;re smooth but not liquid. Then mix this into the oats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Place a quarter of the oats into a glass, add a layer of strawberry compote, another layer of oats and finally another layer of strawberries. If you want you can then add a few pieces of chopped strawberries and almonds as a topping. Then do the same in the next glass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">Leave the oats in the fridge until you&rsquo;re ready to eat them, they&rsquo;ll take at least 4 hours to soften down but taste best after about 8, so overnight.
