Crescent Lasagna – Debbie
2 cans crescent rolls
2 lbs of extra lean ground beef
1 can tomato soup
1 pkg spaghetti sauce mix
1 Onion
1 cup Cottage Cheese or Ricotta Cheese
1 cup (about) Mozzarella Cheese
½ cup (about) Cheddar Cheese
Green Pepper, diced (optional)
Mushrooms, sliced (optional)
Ground Sausage (optional)
Pop each rolled can using a knife or sharp object to open the seam on the can. Do not hit the can open as it will cause too many holes to pinch closed when you roll the dough out. Gently unroll the dough and lay the dough flat on to a cookie sheet sprayed with PAM. Two rolls (cans) will cover over half of a regular cookie sheet. Center the dough on the pan so you can have the finished product centered on the pan. You can also use a pizza pan. After the dough is laid flat, pinch all the little holes and seams together to form one large piece of dough. Set dough aside while you make the filling.
In a large frying pan mix together:
The ground beef. Cook the meat completely and drain off fat. If you leave too much fat in the mixture it will ruin the dough mixture when you put it all together.
Add onion, as much as you prefer. I also add sausage, chopped mushrooms, green peppers or any other items that sound good to your family.
After the meat is cooked, add one can of condensed tomato soup. No water-just the soup! Add the spaghetti sauce mix. Mix well. Simmer on low heat. Heat the mixture until very hot.
Gently spoon the meat mixture on to the center of the crescent roll dough. Keep the mixture in the center of the dough. Do not spread it out. Spoon the cottage cheese on top of the meat mixture. Spread the cottage cheese evenly over the top of the meat.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top of the meat and cottage cheese. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
If you notice any of the seams coming apart on the crescent rolls, pinch them together again. Gently lift and pull each corner of the crescent rolls to close the top and sides together, and pinch the seams together. It is sort of like a Calzone only round! Top the top of the dough with a handful of shredded cheddar and mozzarella.
Bake in a preheated 350* oven. Set the timer to 15 minutes, and then check it every couple of minutes until the dough is light golden brown. Slice the portions like a pizza. The cheeses should be gooey and yummy.
You can make up different mixtures to go inside this dough. It is fun and impressive and easy too!
