Half and Half Bread – Relief Society Bulletin

4 c. warm water

6 T. butter (3/4 stick)

1 c. firmly packed brown sugar

2 T. yeast

4 T. honey (1/4 c.)

4 tsp. salt

1 c. powdered milk (dry)

 6 c. unbleached white flour

6 c. whole wheat flour

 

In a large bowl add, water, melted butter, brown sugar, yeast, honey, salt, powdered milk.

Let stand 10 minutes until yeast is developed (foamy).

Add whole wheat flour and white flour gradually (till dough leaves side of bowl). May not need all 12 cups. Knead 10 minutes (till soft as a baby’s bottom). Shape into 4 loaves. Let rise till double in size bake at 350 for 40  minutes.
