Apple Crumb Pie – Young Women

Crust:

2 c. flour

1 tsp. salt

¾ c. shortening

¼ c. ice water

In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut shortening into flour. Make a well and add ice water. Stir just until blended. Makes 2 bottom crusts.

 

Pie Filling:

1 lb. peeled and sliced apples

½ c. sugar

3 T. flour

¼ tsp. nutmeg

¼ tsp. cinnamon

dash of salt

 

Crumb topping

1 c. flour

1 c. sugar

1 c.  butter

Mix until crumbly- this should cover 2 to 3  8” pies

 

Bake in 400 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Can be frozen and baked at 400 degrees for 55-60 minutes.
