Banana Bread

1 c. shortening

1 ½ c. sugar, 1 ½ c. brown sugar

1 c. mashed bananas

2 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. salt

¼ c. sour milk

4 eggs

4 c. flour

1 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. baking powder

1 c. nuts

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add milk and bananas. Beat well. Combine all dry ingredients and add. Beat well and fold in nuts. Pour into greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes for large loaves and 30-35 minutes for small loaves. Makes 2 large and 1 small loaf or 6 small loaves. To make sour milk, add ¾ tsp. lemon juice or vinegar to ¼ c. milk; let stand a few minutes.
