Buttermilk Scones – Cindy Leishman

1 qt. buttermilk

2 pkg. dry yeast

2 T. sugar

2 egg, beaten

2 T. vegetable oil

1 ½ tsp. soda

9 to 10 cups flour

Warm buttermilk and soften yeast in warm buttermilk (add 1 tsp. sugar). Add  2 T. sugar, 2 T. oil, 2 beaten eggs and four cups of the flour  (soda already added to flour). Beat until smooth, then gradually add rest of flour. Let raise until doubled in bulk. Fry in deep oil. Serve with butter or honey, or tomatoes, and cheese or make into Navajo Tacos.
